Trade Promotion Officer
KOTRA Toronto - Toronto, ONKorea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) is Korea's trade promotion organization (TPO) under the auspices of the Government of Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE). KOTRA's broad mandate includes three core services: export promotion of Korean Small-to-Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs), Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) attraction to Korea, and outbound investment assistance. We have a network of 126 offices in 86 countries worldwide and, in North America alone, we have 10 offices in the United States and Canada.
The Toronto Office is pleased to announce that we have a vacancy for one (1) trade promotion officer to join a highly professional and dynamic team, facilitating business relations between Korea and Canada. This role develops and implements business plans and market entry strategies for Korean SMEs in the eastern part of Canada (all the provinces east of Manitoba). This role is also responsible for providing tailored market information and advice to our clients for them to succeed in highly competitive Canadian import markets.
ㅇ Oversee a portfolio of several Korean SME clients and prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly progress reports
ㅇ Plan, organize and receive various trade delegations coming in from Korea
ㅇ Conduct market research and deliver tailored information and advice to clients
ㅇ Acquire and maintain knowledge of relevant Canadian industries and markets and establish network of potential buyers and partners
ㅇ Ability to speak and write in English essential, Korean an asset
ㅇ Some knowledge of Korea's trade interests and/or business environment
ㅇ A demonstrable record of business development experience in Canada
ㅇ Strong client management skills and ability to work with senior executives
ㅇ Proactive, organized, working with multiple and deadlines
ㅇ Highly professional demeanour and strong networking skills
ㅇ Ability to operate standard MS Office applications
ㅇ A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel overnight
ㅇ Legal status to live and work in Canada and will be subject to satisfactory reference checks and security clearances
